With simple ingredients and easy steps, you can bake this delightful bread in no time.

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, chopped (113 g)
  • 2 tbsp coffee or water (30 ml)
  • 1 1/2 cups cake flour, sifted (190 g)
  • 2 tsp baking powder (8 g)
  • 1/4 tsp salt (1.5 g)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temp (113 g)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (200 g)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract (5 ml)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or plain yogurt, room temp (120 ml)

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. Melt the chopped chocolate with the coffee or water in a heatproof bowl over simmering water, stirring until smooth. Set aside to cool.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the cake flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In a separate large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  6. Stir in the vanilla extract and sour cream (or yogurt) until well combined.
  7. Gradually mix in the flour mixture until just combined.
  8. Divide the batter into two bowls: fold the melted chocolate into one half.
  9. Alternately spoon dollops of the vanilla and chocolate batters into the prepared loaf pan. Use a knife to gently swirl the two batters together to create a marbled effect.
  10. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  11. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
