We’re wishing farewell to Van Lindberg after 16 years of service to the PSF, who has determined to step down from his Board Director and Common Counsel roles. He helped us develop from a small volunteer group with no workers, to a corporation with 9 workers members that helps the entire Python ecosystem and its international group. He has served on our board for 11 years, as Chair of the PyCon US committee for 3 years earlier than that and most lately because the PSF’s Common Counsel for 7 years.

For a few years, Van has steered our IP insurance policies as an open supply challenge. He labored to ensure our trademark, license and contributor settlement insurance policies stored tempo with the evolving open supply panorama. He has suggested numerous members of the PSF group on tips on how to work with our licenses and tips on how to correctly take into consideration emblems, patents, cryptocurrency and far more.

Van served first as an elected board member after which later as an appointed board member. Much less formally, Van has been an enthusiastic presence at many, many PyCons and a steadying presence for our volunteer Logos working group. He has spoken at many open supply occasions sharing his expertise as a Pythonista and the experience gained on the different open supply communities he’s a participant in.

He’s each a shining instance of volunteer effort and an excellent mentor to many Board and workers members. I am very grateful for the numerous years of service and dedication he gave to the PSF, and we’re all the higher for it.”
